Dr. Denis Vaughan

Dr. Denis Vaughan is a double board-certified reproductive endocrinologist at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center and Co-Founder of Terra Fertility.

He has a special interest in optimizing IVF outcomes, including diminished ovarian reserve, recurrent implantation failure and recurrent pregnancy loss and has published extensively on the topics.

In addition, Dr. Vaughan conducts research at Harvard on fertility preservation, including elective, oncological reasons and for gender affirming care. An Assistant Professor at Harvard Medical School, Dr. Vaughan, serves on the editorial board of the premier academic infertility journal Human Reproduction.

Originally from Cork, Ireland, Dr. Vaughan moved to the U.S. in 2013 for OBGYN residency training at Tufts Medical Center and completed a fellowship in reproductive endocrinology and infertility at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center and Harvard Medical School.

In addition to his clinical and research work, Dr. Vaughan serves as an investor and advisor to early-stage healthcare companies.

Dr. Vaughan offers compassionate, evidence-based care for all fertility challenges but has particular interests in:

  • Complex Infertility Cases: Personalized approaches for patients with diminished ovarian reserve, multiple failed IVF cycles or unclear diagnoses. Particular expertise in second opinions.

  • Male Factor Infertility: Expertise in treating low sperm count, motility issues, or azoospermia, including advanced sperm selection techniques.

  • Oligo/anovulation (irregular menstrual cycles) including hypothalmic dysfunction and Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS): Thorough testing to arrive to diagnosis. Tailored, holistic treatment strategies including lifestyle and medical.

  • Recurrent Pregnancy Loss: Comprehensive evaluation and innovative protocols to maximize live birth rates.

  • LGBTQ+ Family Building: Inclusive fertility care for same-sex couples and transgender individuals, including reciprocal IVF and fertility preservation. Dr. Vaughan serves as a medical advisor and avid supporter of Fenway Health
